Spanish city of Cullera unanimously recognizes Armenian Genocide
During a session, the city council of the Spanish city of Cullera unanimously recognized the Armenian Genocide, condemning the crime against humanity and urging the other authorities and particularly the central government of Spain and Turkey to follow their example.
As reported Ararat Armenian Association of Valencia to Hayern Aysor, in his speech, Mayor Jordi Mayor particularly stated that things needed to be called by their names and what happened to the Armenian people in the early 20th century had only one name-genocide.
The speaker of the Podemos Party especially gave a good speech in which he stated that Turkey must not only recognize the genocide, but also make reparations for the damages and particularly return the historic lands of the Armenians.
Among the attendees were representatives of the local Armenian community, on behalf of whom President of Ararat Armenian Association Ararat Ghukasyan expressed gratitude to the city council, stating that Cullera became the 27th city of Spain to recognize the Armenian Genocide and that this was a historic day for not only the Armenians of Spain, but also the city.
The petition had been submitted to the city council by representative of Ararat Armenian Association in Cullera Hermine Abrahamyan.
