Armenian Genocide Memorial to be unveiled in Geneva on April 24

Armradio – Armenian Genocide monument “Lanterns of Memory” will be inaugurated in the Trembley Park in Geneva on April 24, Bluewin.ch reported.

The Geneva Court of Justice rejected in January the appeal of people living near the park, who opposed to the presence of the work. They denounce the fact that the green space that serves as a place for relaxation is becoming politicized.

Their lawyer, National Councilor Yves Nidegger, announced Friday to have appealed to the Federal Court (TF) to examine the case from this angle.

At one point there was some question of installing the memorial in the park of the Ariana Museum, near the United Nations. The Federal Council finally challenged the location.

According to Mr. Nidegger, “The Street Lamps of Memory” are to be inaugurated on April 24 – the day of commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.

This memorial is composed of nine street lamps, almost ten meters high, ending at the end with a teardrop bulb.
