Syrian army now in control of 98% of Aleppo –

Syria’s army said it has gained control of 98% of Aleppo as fighting continues in the city.
Eastern Aleppo has been held by rebels since 2012, but the military said there is just one enclave left that is packed with rebels and civilians.
President Bashar Assad’s forces has seized control of al-Fardous, one of the largest neighbourhoods in eastern Aleppo.
Syrian troops, backed by Russian airstrikes, launched an offensive on eastern Aleppo earlier this month and are on the verge of victory against the rebels.
Doing so would hand Assad his greatest victory so far in the five-year civil war.
