“Let’s tell the world what happened in 1915” – Israeli Parliament’s Deputy Speaker –
ARMENPRESS. I have always supported the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Israel, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament (Knesset) of Israel, Head of Israel-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Tali Ploskov said at the Public Forum on the Armenian-Israeli cooperation, reports “Armenpress”.
“I will continue to raise this issue in the Knesset as much as I can. I would like to say the number of people who are in favor of the Armenian Genocide recognition is gradually increasing. The greatest achievement over this issue was the official recognition of this fact by the Education Committee. Yes, this is not the official stance of Israel, but this is already a positive step on this issue, and in my opinion, it is a very significant step”, she said.
She said in Israel few people know about the history of Armenia, the Genocide, and huge works must be done to fill that gap.
“We must work together, since the countries that are not interested in the Genocide recognition, do everything in order not to know about it. Let’s tell the world what happened in 1915. Let’s say the truth”, Tali Ploskov said.
Ploskov was born in Moldova and immigrated to Israel in 1991. She has served as the mayor of Arad for the past four years (on behalf of the Yisrael Beytenu party) and was the first Soviet immigrant to be elected mayor.
