Armenian woman wants to become MP in Turkey –
Yesterday marked the last day of registration for candidates of Turkey’s “Democracy of Nations” Party wishing to run in the Turkish parliamentary elections, as www.tert.am reports.
Among those who responded to HDP’s call for a “New Life” are Armenians and Arabs who want the political party to nominate its candidate for the June 7 parliamentary elections.
Nvard Bakircioglu from Bakirkioy is one of those who addressed the political party to register as a candidate.
The woman candidate, who is of Armenian descent, mentioned that she would like to run “in Van, the capital of Urartu”.
Nvard Bakircioglu is drawing everyone’s attention to the fact that she wants to run in the year marking the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
“There haven’t been any Armenian deputies in this parliament for the past 100 years. The presence of an Armenian candidate in the year marking the centennial would be appropriate. I want to represent my people. I, or other Armenian candidates, must represent the Armenians in the Mejlis,” she said.
Let us remind that Zekeria Sabunju from Mardin also addressed the political party to register as a candidate.
