Armenian opera singer wins first prize in Russia –

Hovhannes Nersesyan, a solo opera singer of the Armenian National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, won the first prize at the IX International Rimsky-Korsakov Young Opera Singers’ Competition in the Russian city of Tikhvin.

The competition was held on January 28-31 as part of the International Rimsky-Korsakov Opera Festival.

The competition, founded in 1994, was dedicated by its organizers to the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of Rimsky-Korsakov’s birth.
