Holy Echmiadzin transfers $100K to Kessab Armenians –
The social fund approved at the Ecclesiastical Assembly of the Armenian Apostolic Church has transferred $100,000 to the account of the Great House of Cilicia for assistance to the Kessab Armenians, reported the Information Service of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin.
Hundreds of ethnic Armenian families had to flee their homes in Kessab, in the north-west of Syria, after al-Qaeda-affiliated militants launched an attack on March 21 crossing into Syria from Turkish territory.
Armenians around the world have condemned the attack as well as the Turkish hand in it. Fundraisers have been organized in recent days to help alleviate the plight of Kessab Armenians.
Meanwhile, new details have been reported about the missile attack on an Armenian school in Damascus in which one person was reportedly killed and 60 other wounded. According to media, at least two ethnic Armenian schoolboys and two female teachers were among those wounded in the strikes.
