Five athletes, three sports: Armenia at the 2026 Winter Olympics

(Horizon Weekly) — Armenia is competing at the 25th Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, with a five-athlete delegation across three sports. The Games run from Feb. 6 to Feb. 22, 2026.

The Armenian Olympic Committee confirmed the national team includes five competitors: two cross-country skiers, one alpine skier and a figure skating pair. Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmanin served as Armenia’s flag-bearers at the opening ceremony.

In cross-country skiing, Mikayel Mikayelyan and Katya Galstyan are representing Armenia. Both are scheduled to compete in the 20-kilometre skiathlon and the 10-kilometre individual freestyle events. Galstyan has previously competed at multiple Olympic Games, bringing veteran experience to the team.

Alpine skiing will feature Harutyun Harutyunyan in the men’s giant slalom and slalom races. Harutyunyan was selected to fill Armenia’s quota spot in the discipline.

The figure skating discipline marks a notable moment for Armenia. Akopova and Rakhmanin earned the country’s first Olympic quota in pairs figure skating since 2002 by finishing second at the 2025 ISU Skate to Milano qualifying event. Their short program and free skate are scheduled for mid-Games.

The delegation is focused on strong performances, continued development, and representing the country at the highest international level.
