Armenian Justice Minister Relieved of his Post

YEREVAN (ARKA)—Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan was relieved of his position today by President Serzh Sarkissian, who signed a presidential decree on Tuesday, according to the presidential press service.

Earlier, the minister’s press secretary, Tsovinar Khachatryan, said that Manukyan had tendered his resignation. The reasons behind the decision have not been disclosed.

Forty-three-year-old Manukyan was appointed Minister of Justice in April 2014. He is a graduate of Yerevan State University, class of 1994.

He has served as chairman of the Economic Court (1999-2005), chairman of the Court of Cassation (2005-2008), and Armenia’s ambassador  to Georgia (2011-2014).
