5-year-old Armenian-American piano prodigy set to make history as one of the youngest to perform at Carnegie Hall

A five-year-old Armenian-American piano prodigy from Los Angeles is preparing to make history this summer as one of the youngest performers ever to grace the stage at New York City’s prestigious Carnegie Hall, ABC7 reports.

Alec Van Khajadourian began exploring the piano almost as soon as he could walk. Since then, he’s grown into a remarkable young musician capable of playing full pieces with confidence and expression.

“When he started walking, he’d go right to the piano, tapping keys and smiling from ear to ear,” recalled Alec’s father, Joe Khajadourian. “We could tell right away that he had a special connection to music, and his skills have developed incredibly quickly.”

Joe shared that Alec has perfect pitch—a rare gift that allows him to recognize musical notes by ear, a talent found in only about one in 10,000 people.

“Even though he’s a typical playful five-year-old most of the time, something changes when he sits at the piano,” Joe said. “It’s like he’s in his element.”

Alec is set to perform not only at Carnegie Hall this July but also at the renowned Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

“Sometimes my wife and I just laugh in disbelief while watching him play,” Joe said. “We’re amazed by what he can do.”

Joe added that they don’t need to push Alec to practice; he simply loves playing. “As long as it brings him joy, we’ll continue to support him.”
