CALL FOR THE SAKE OF KESSAB –

\n

\n

On the 21st of March 2014, the military situation that has been in Syria for the last three year, penetrated deeply into the coastal area where the Armenian town of kessab and the surrounding villages are.

\n

Kessab, evidence of the Giligian Kingdom in it historical and geographical aspects, has a unique meaning for the Armenian nation in general and for syrian Armenians in particular.

\n

Kessab is that town where the Armenian culture is Kept intact. It is the town where the Armenian traditions and customs are distributed and above all it is that small town where the Armenian home is preserved. This region where everything smells Armenian was stabbed. This was also a stab to every single Armenian’s soul and heart.

\n

Actually the presence and the prosperous life of the Armenians in Kessab, was not welcomed by Turkey our nation’s old enemy.

Turkey’s first hostile action was evident in the Armenian Genocide on the land of Cilicia and Western Armenia. Today shortly before the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocidein their Syrian homeland, Turkey serves its active role to smite Syria and the Armenians. Once again Turkey’s hostile policy towards Armenians was evident in Kessab.

\n

kessab, the Armenian town is wounded today. Kessab’s inhabitants were forcibly displaced sheltered in Latakia. In Latakia, the displaced Armenians are under the auspice of the Syrian Armenian Committee For Urgent Relief And Rehabilitation, the Emergency Executive Body of Kessab and Latakia. These bodies hurry to support Armenian people.

\n

Over the past three years, our country and our diaspora, put their effort to support the Syrian-Armenian community. Today Kessab joins the other troubled regions. Today Kessab’s inhabitants needs our help. It’s time to harvest our love towards Kessab and its inhabitants.

\n

Kessab’s every mountain, every park, every spring and fountain are evidence of remembrance and a book of memory.
We should protect all of them.
