YEREVAN — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on November 5 that he plans to travel to Turkey to participate in the United Nations COP31 climate conference, scheduled for November 9–20 in Antalya.
Speaking at a press briefing following a government meeting, Pashinyan confirmed his intention to attend the international gathering.
The conference will bring together world leaders and government representatives to discuss climate action, clean energy, environmental commitments and international cooperation. Its World Leaders’ Summit is scheduled for November 11–12.
Pashinyan’s planned visit follows an invitation extended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during their September 23 meeting in New York, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
According to the Turkish presidential communications office, the leaders discussed bilateral normalization, regional developments and cooperation in trade and transportation.
The announcement also comes as Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has suggested that reopening the Armenian–Turkish border and establishing diplomatic relations could become possible at any moment.
However, the border remains closed, and no definitive normalization agreement has been announced.
It has not been confirmed whether Pashinyan and Erdoğan will hold a separate bilateral meeting in Antalya.
