(Horizon Media / YEREVAN) — The Armenian government has approved a major investment project to establish a supercomputing and data processing centre in Kotayk Province, aimed at advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities in the country.
The initiative, submitted by Firebird AI CJSC, envisions the creation of a state-of-the-art data center supported by a total investment of approximately 170 billion drams (about $430 million). The facility is expected to serve as a hub for AI-driven solutions and large-scale data processing.
As part of the government’s decision, the project has been granted customs duty exemptions on imported goods deemed necessary for its implementation. The total value of these imports stands at 26.9 billion drams, with the exemption itself estimated at 2.6 billion drams.
Investment allocations include 5.7 billion drams for construction, 139.8 billion drams for the procurement of equipment and other fixed assets, and 24.5 billion drams for raw materials.
The project is expected to generate 40 new jobs by 2030, with average monthly salaries projected at 400,000 drams.
Officials view the initiative as part of broader efforts to strengthen Armenia’s position in emerging technologies and digital infrastructure development.
