Horizon Weekly Participates In Webinar Hosted by Ontario Liberal Party Leader

On April 30, 2020 Horizon Weekly was invited to a unique opportunity for a round table discussion with Mr Steven Del Duca – recently elected leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. Previously, he has served as the Ontario Minister of Transportation and Minister of Economic Growth and Development in the cabinet of Premier Kathleen Wynne. The Webinar was organized by the National Ethnic Press Council of Canada.

Ishkhan Ghazarian and Nazeeg Haneshian represented Horizon Weekly in this meeting, both members of the National Ethnic Press Council in Canada. The discussion acknowledged all the front line workers, the challenges as well as areas we can collectively improve.  “It is a time for all of us to work together…to be collaborative.”

Mr Del Duca advised he has been in contact with the Federal and Provincial government regarding increased testing for COVID19 (beyond the current 12,000 daily number)  which he believes is an imperative component to safely reopening society -whenever that will be.

Mr Del Duca discussed the challenges of COVID 19, specifically addressing the impact it has had on news outlets and journalists; suggesting further support to this community. He acknowledged the government is doing a great job at mitigating the current unprecedented times, although there is room for improvement and we can all do better together.
