Armenianow – Former Miss Armenia Gohar Harutyunyan’s niece will represent the nation at the Miss Planet beauty contest that will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on September 12.
At a press conference in Yerevan on Thursday, Lusine Baghdasaryan, a representative of the Top Model Armenia National Association, which is the organizer of the contest in Armenia, said that it is the first time that Armenia will take part in this prestigious beauty pageant.
“We received an invitation from the organizers of the contest about a month ago, then we conducted a casting, as a result of which 17-year-old Diana Davtyan was selected, and it turned out that she is a niece of ex-Miss Armenia, Miss CIS and Mrs. Globe Gohar Harutyunyan,” she said.
Armenia’s representative is a newcomer to the modeling scene, but she has already managed to participate in various fashion shows.
“It is a year I’ve been in modeling. I graduated from the Atex fashion house’s school-studio, participated in various exhibitions, but I could not imagine that so early in my life I would be participating in such a large-scale international contest,” the young beauty said at the press conference.
Miss Planet will bring together representatives from 35 countries who will be evaluated by a 20-member jury. Gevorg Asatryan, the founding president of the Top Model National Association, will also be on the jury.
Diana Davtyan will wear cocktail and evening dresses made by Armenian designer Faina Harutyunyan, and in the national costume competition she will walk in the taraz provided by the Teryan Cultural Center.
