On Thursday, March 26, 2015 Mher Karakashian, Chairman and Hagop Arslanian, members of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Central Committee of Canada met Mr. Brad Butt, MP – Member of the House of Commons for Mississauga-Streetsville (Conservative). The meeting’s main focus was on the Centennial Committee’s work and its political resolutions.

MP Brad Butt expressed his support of the projects of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee. He then presented an official copy of Motion 587 declaring April as Genocide Remembrance, Condemnation and Prevention Month and, among other things, to mark April 24 of each year as Armenian Genocide Memorial Day.

The representatives of the Central Committee thanked Mr. Butt for his attention and understanding towards the Armenian Genocide Centennial initiatives.

The Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of Canada is made up of representatives of Armenian Canadian political, church, benevolent, youth and other community organizations with the purpose of organizing/coordinating of events in Canada dedicated to the commemoration of the centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

The Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) has recently urged all Canadians dedicated to the cause of preventing future genocides and properly recognizing past genocides to make their voices heard by writing or calling their Members of Parliament and asking them to vote for this motion.

The Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) has initiated an action alert in support of the motion calling for canadians to Support Making April Genocide Awareness and Prevention Month.
