Worldwide Reading about the Armenian Genocide –

The International Literature Festival Berlin and the Lepsiushaus Potsdam are calling for a worldwide reading on 21 April 2015 in regard with the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. A big number of writers signed for this initiative, including some Nobel Prize laureates (Orhan Pamuk, Mario Vargas Llosa, Herta Muller, John Coetzee etc.).
In the framework of the worldwide reading some literary texts will be presented by Armenian authors, who were killed during the Genocide (Daniel Varuzhan, Siamanto, Ruben Sevak) or wrote about the Genocide (Yeghishe Charents, William Saroyan, Paruyr Sevak). The organizers also proposed “The Book of Whispers” by Romanian-Armenian author, President of the Union of Armenians in Romania and senator Varujan Vosganian, published in 2009, which has been translated into numerous languages. Since 2013, it has been nominated for the Literature Nobel Prize by the Writers’ Union of Armenia (in 2013 and 2014, it was nominated by the Writers’ Unions of Romania and Israel).
