President of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan has signed a decree on a number of measures being taken in the conditions of martial law announced in the territory of the Artsakh Republic.
According to the decree, in order to ensure the normal life of the Artsakh Republic population and prevent possible threat conditioned by the situation created as a result of the blockade of the Stepanakert-Goris highway by Azerbaijan on December 12, 2022 and based on the law “On Legal Regime of the Martial Law”, it was decided:
The Peace of Art, Inc. has displayed an electronic billboard erected on one of the busy highways in the state of Massachusetts to thank President Joe Biden for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
The billboard presents two alternating screens. On the first screen the organization thanks President Biden for recognizing the Armenian Genocide, and on the second, it quotes President Biden’s statement on the occasion of Armenian Remembrance Day: “The American people honor the memory of all Armenians who fell victim to the genocide 106 years ago today.” President Joe Biden, April 24, 2021.”
In March 2021, on the eve of the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Peace of Art, Inc. launched its annual education campaign by displaying electronic billboards in the state of Massachusetts, USA. The message on this year’s billboards asks, “Mr. President, with honor, dignity and courage recognize the Armenian Genocide.”
For the past twenty five years Peace of Art, Inc., has continuously called on America to recognize the Armenian Genocide. On April 24, 2021, President Biden honored his promise and recognized the Armenian Genocide.
About 20 aftershocks were registered after a 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit Armenia on February 13 , the Ministry of Emergency Situations informs.
The National Crisis Management Center has received about 1,310 different reports on destruction caused by the quake. Two of the reports have been confirmed.
The earthquake struck 8 km southeast of Yerevan and measured 6-7 at the epicenter.
The earthquake was felt in Aragatsotn, Ararat, Shirak, Armavir, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor provinces.
Vanier College is promising to address an incident of apparent racism by a staff member during an online class that was caught on camera and has been widely viewed on social media, CTV News reports.
In a video posted to an Instagram account of The Armenian Report, a professor identified as Afshin Matlabi, can be heard repeatedly hectoring a student over their name, questioning why their mother’s family name was first in the student’s hyphenated last name.
“How come your dad didn’t put their name first and your mom put her name first?” Matlabi says to the visibly uncomfortable student.
“I’m telling you your problem,” Matlabi continues.
“Many in the Armenian community at Vanier and the broader Montreal Armenian community have demanded the professor be terminated for embarrassing the student with armenophobic behavior,” The Armenian Report writes.
According to the Vanier website, Matlabi is a teacher in the Communications, Media and Studio Arts program and a visual artist.
In a statement posted to Facebook, Vanier administration said they are aware of the video and “are taking this very seriously.”
“We have mechanisms in place to address such situations and the College is addressing this issue immediately. Vanier is a diverse community of learners and prides itself on trying to create a learning environment free of racism, discrimination and hate.”

He stressed that mobilization of foreign terrorist fighters in conflicts represents a new alarming trend.
“Our region is not immune to the scourge of terrorism and its radical ideology and violent practices. Amidst the outbreak of an unprecedented global pandemic, on 27 September 2020 Azerbaijan, with the direct support of Turkey, employed thousands of foreign terrorists fighters in a large-scale military aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh),” Armrnia’s envoy to the UN said.
“The offensive led to massive loss of human life, displacement of tens of thousands of civilians, destruction and desecration of religious and cultural heritage and other gross violations of international human rights law and humanitarian law. The ISIL-style torture, inhuman treatment and executions of prisoners of war and civilian hostages by the Azerbaijani forces was widely disseminated and glorified in the media outlets and social networks,” he added.
Mr. Margaryan noted that “he recruitment of foreign terrorist fighters by Turkey from the Middle East and their transfer to Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone is a well-established and documented fact, acknowledged by law enforcement agencies of several countries and extensively reported by independent observers.
“The UN Working Group on the use of mercenaries of the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner in its Statement of 11 November 2020 has referred to “widespread reports that the Government of Azerbaijan, with Turkey’s assistance, relied on Syrian fighters to shore-up and sustain its military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, including on the frontline. The fighters appeared to be motivated primarily by private gain, given the dire economic situation in the Syrian Arab Republic. In case of death, their relatives were reportedly promised financial compensation and Turkish nationality,” the Ambassador stated.
“It is even more disturbing that the Syrian fighters deployed to Azerbaijan are allegedly affiliated with armed groups and individuals that, in some cases, have been accused of war crimes and serious human rights abuses during the conflict in Syria, thus seemingly perpetuating a cycle of impunity and risking further abuses of international law,” Mher Margaryan stated.
Meghri checkpoint at Iran’s border
Armenia is willing to import over 2,000 items from Iran after announcing ban on imports from Turkey, according to the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Tasnim News Agency reports.
A marketing official at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran has cited a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about Armenia’s willingness to replace Turkish commodities with Iranian products.
According to Mojtaba Mousavian, the Republic of Armenia has plans to replace 2,250 Turkish items with products made in Iran.
The official described it as an opportunity for Iranian companies, considering that Armenia’s minister of economy is going to visit Tehran within the next few weeks.
He also recommended compiling a list of the items that Iranian companies can export to Armenia.
On December 31, 2020, a ban on the goods imported from Turkey took effect in Armenia. The Armenian government announced the ban in late October following Turkey’s heavy backing of the Republic Azerbaijan in the recent war against Nagorno Karabakh.
The ban would be in effect for only six months, as that is the maximum period that member states of the Eurasian Economic Union can implement unilateral embargos of this type.
Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan served a Mass for about 100 pilgrims at Dadivank monastery.
