Armenia to deliver humanitarian aid to Lebanon through Turkey

(Horizon Media / YEREVAN) — The Armenian government has approved the temporary opening of the Margara border crossing with Turkey to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Lebanon.

Under the decision adopted at a government meeting, the checkpoint will operate from June 12 to June 22, allowing humanitarian cargo from Armenia to transit through Turkish territory en route to Lebanon.

Officials said the measure follows working-level discussions between Armenian and Lebanese authorities regarding the provision of humanitarian assistance, particularly for the people of Lebanon and members of the Armenian community affected by ongoing Israeli attacks.

The government noted that using the Margara crossing will enable aid to reach Lebanon more quickly and at a lower cost.

The Armenia-Turkey land border remains closed to regular commercial and passenger traffic, and the Margara checkpoint is generally not operational. However, it has been opened on several occasions in recent years for humanitarian purposes, including in 2025 to facilitate the delivery of Armenian aid to Syria.
