Deadly explosions hit Elazig and Van, Turkey
Deadly explosions hit Elazig and Van, Turkey –
Euronews – At least six people have been killed and nearly 200 wounded in two seperate car bomb blasts in Turkey.
In the eastern Turkish city of Elazig, three people died after an attack near a local police station. Around 150 others were injured, many severely.
Suspicion has quickly fallen on Kurdish separatist groups for the attack, though so far, there has been no claim of responsibility.
The attack in Elazig on Thursday struck just hours after another car bomb blast in the city of Van, next to the Iranian border. That also saw three people die and around 40 wounded.
Once again, the explosion took place near a police station.
Turkey’s mainly Kurdish southeast has seen a surge in separatist violence over the last year following the collapse of a two and half year ceasefire between Ankara and the PKK.
