Military Officer Fired for Gulenist Ties Named as Leader of Turkey’s Coup –

(Washington Post) – The state-run Anadolu Agency, citing unnamed military sources, says the leader of the attempted coup in Turkey is Col. Muharrem Kose.

The agency says Kose, who headed the military’s legal advisory department, was dismissed from the position a short time ago.

Other officers involved include Col. Mehmet Oguz Akkus, Maj. Erkan Agin and Lt. Col. Dogan Uysal.

In March 2016, Köse was fired from the military for alleged association with the Gülen movement.
