Armenian-Israeli Forum Establishment Discussed
YEREVAN (Mediamax)—Armenian National Assembly and Israeli Knesset are going to take steps toward boosting inter-parliamentary ties.
Upon the official invitation of the Israeli Knesset, the delegation headed by Chairman of Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of Armenian National Assembly Artak Zakaryan visited Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
These were the first Israel-Armenia interparliamentary contacts.
On behalf of the Armenian National Assembly, Artak Zakaryan has expressed the content to the Israeli Knesset for the parliamentary delegation’s high-level participation in the Armenian Genocide Centennial events this April.
The sides have also attached importance to the need for activating the Friendship Group; the idea of establishment of Armenian-Israeli forum under the Group has been discussed. The forum will engage individuals and organizations interested in developing the relations between the two states.
The Armenian delegation has stressed that the Armenian Members of Parliament expect the Knesset to express its official position on acknowledgement and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in future, and as peoples surviving genocides, Armenian and Jewish peoples together with the international community will continue their struggle against prevention of crimes against humanity.
The delegation also held meetings at Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem.
