An outstandng concert on the occasion of the centennial of the Armenian Genocide in Montreal

Aline Kutan, Michael McMahon, Sasha Djihanian, Elie Berberian, Armine Kassabian, Jeffrey Carl and Mathieu Abel presented the works of the Armenian Genocide survivor-composers
Horizon Weekly – On the occasion of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide, the McGill Conservatory of Music presented a special concert entitled: Vocal Art of Armenian Composers – Survivors of the Genocide.
The works of Kourken Alemshah (1907-1947), Vahan Bedelian (1894-1990), Hampartzoum Berberian (1905-1999), Parsegh Ganatchian (1885-1967), and Avedis Messouments (1905-1981) were presented in the concert. A few selections from Komitas’ (1869-1935) works were also included in the concert.
Aline Kutan, Michael McMahon, Sasha Djihanian, Elie Berberian, Armine Kassabian, Jeffrey Carl and Mathieu Abel presented the works of the Armenian Genocide survivor-composers along with Mashtots Choir directed by Gohar Manvelyan and Patil Harboyan at the piano. The project director was Mrs. Hasmig Injejikian.
The full house event took place at 4:00pm Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Pollack Hall in Montreal. The concert was partially funded by the Gulbenkian Foundation and with a generous donation by Mrs. Anahid Markarian.
The proceeds of ticket sales from the concert will go to the Scholarship fund of McGill Conservatory.
