Students can be taught about The Armenian Genocide in California

Students can be taught about The Armenian Genocide in California –

When the clock struck midnight on January 1 morning, a number of the 930 bills California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law went into effect across California.  One of the laws is about Genocide education. Education officials must now consider teaching lessons about these events.

Genocide lessons: State education officials must consider incorporating lessons about the Armenian genocide and other mass killings, such as those in Rwanda and Darfur, into curriculum standards that will be updated in 2015. Lessons about genocide should include oral testimony from survivors, rescuers and witnesses.
