Horizon Media launches student internship program

(Horizon Media / MONTREAL) – With special funding provided by Employment and Social Development Canada, Horizon Media is launching its student internship program for a fifth term.

In a letter dated April 10, 2026, addressed to the editorial board of Horizon, Marc Miller, Canada’s Minister of Identity and Culture, stated that the ministry, recognizing Horizon Media’s decades-long nationwide contribution to information and journalism, is once again sponsoring the summer student internship program. The initiative is included in Minister Joly’s Canada Summer Jobs program for the Ahuntsic-Cartierville constituency.

Two Montreal-based Armenian students, Sevag Ghazarian and Sahag Moudarigian, were selected as interns for the 2026 student internship program.

Sevag received his elementary and secondary education at Montreal’s Sourp Hagop Armenian School and is currently attending McGill University, where he is continuing his studies in mathematics and physics. He is an active member of the Armenian Youth Federation of Canada and a scout leader in the Homenetmen “Gamk” chapter. He has also been a member of the Hamazkayin “Bedros Atamian” theatrical group.

Sahag received his secondary education at the Levon and Sofia Hagopian Armenian College in Lebanon and is currently attending the Saint-Laurent Centre éducatif. He is an active member of the Armenian Youth Federation of Canada. He has also been a member of the Homenetmen scouting organization and soccer team, both in Lebanon and in Montreal.

Within the scope of Horizon Media’s daily editorial work, the interns will carry out translations, reports, and interviews on community events, the digitization of archives, and other editorial tasks.

As part of the same program, Sourp Hagop Armenian School graduates Arine Dimitian, Gorun Koyunian, Vazken Karakashian, and Hovig Gedigian served as Horizon interns in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. During the six-week program, they worked in Horizon’s editorial and administrative departments and made significant contributions to the archiving of 40 years of Horizon issues.
