TORONTO— The Armenian Prelacy of Canada has announced the continuation of its Armenian Theological Studies Program at Tyndale University in Toronto, with a new course scheduled for the Winter 2027 academic term, focusing on the rich traditions of Armenian Christian worship.
Established under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of Canada, the initiative seeks to strengthen religious education and deepen understanding of the Armenian Apostolic Church, particularly among young adults and members of the Armenian community.
The program was formally launched in Winter 2026 through a partnership with Tyndale University, offering an academic examination of the Armenian Church’s historical origins, theological foundations, doctrinal development and cultural contributions.
Building on the inaugural course, the upcoming session, entitled “Introduction to Armenian Liturgy: Exploring the Armenian Liturgical Tradition in Comparative Perspective,” will examine the distinctive spiritual and liturgical heritage of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
The course will be taught by Father Bsag Tepirjian, PhD, and Deacon Daron Halajian, DMin Candidate, from January 12 to April 2, 2027.
Offered entirely online in an asynchronous format, the course will allow participants to study at their own pace while engaging in academic discussions with instructors and fellow students.
The initiative forms part of the Prelacy’s broader commitment to strengthening the spiritual, educational and cultural foundations of Armenian communities across Canada, while providing younger generations with opportunities to explore their religious heritage through structured academic study.
Registration is open through Tyndale University under course code THEO 0554.
