Turkish villagers of Sasun have renovated the tombs of Armenians –

The local residents of the Turkish Bahceli village in the Beshiri District of the state of Batman (Sasun) have renovated the tombs of the Armenians, as the Turkological portal reports, according to the Turkish Batman newspaper.
Eshref Tarhan, who has been living side-by-side with his Armenian neighbors in Bahceli for years, has decided to gather his fellow villagers and renovate the tombs of Armenians as tribute to the deceased Armenian neighbors.
“There were many Christian Armenians living here until 1965. We haven’t forgotten them and want to keep their memory alive. Recently we renovated the tomb of Khachik Demirtchyan, who was one of our neighbors and a friend of the family. Every year, the Demirtchyans, Kurkchiyans and other Armenian families come here and visit the tombs of their fathers and forefathers.
One always remembers the past. The Muslims, Armenians and Yazidis lived on these lands as brothers in peace. It’s sad that the Armenians disappeared from this village. Let the government develop a draft law that will let them come back to Bahceli,” Tarhan said.
It should be mentioned that the Turks don’t always carry out such initiatives. There are more Turks who desecrate this or that tomb of an Armenian in search of treasure, and the authorities don’t really make much effort to reveal those people and bring them to justice.
