2 Armenians are among new Turkey nationalist party founders

News.am – Journalist Ömer Alpdoğan of Çukurova Barış Gazetesi of Turkey has stressed that there are two Armenians—Elmas Giragos and Taylan Yıldız—among the founding members of the nationalist Good Party, which recently entered the Turkish political arena with great fanfare.

“Elmas Giragos has worried many Turkish nationalists; that is, they are surprised how an Armenian can be a Turkish nationalist, and they attack on Mrs. Elmas,” wrote the Turkish journalist. “And some nationalists assume that Mrs. Elmas is sent from Armenia as a spy.

“But I believe that these labeling of ours is wrong, and Mrs. Elmas is truly devoted to Turkey and Turkish nationalism.”

Surveys show that the Good Party, led by ultranationalist Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) former member Meral Akşener, will win parliamentary seats in the next elections.
