(Horizon Media) – The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies continues its global expansion, opening a new location in Montevideo, Uruguay, marking its first presence in South America.
Already established as one of Armenia’s most recognizable international initiatives, TUMO operates five centers across Armenia—Yerevan, Gyumri, Sevan, Dilijan, and Koghb, alongside a growing network abroad, including in Paris, Beirut, Moscow, Tirana, Berlin, Kyiv, and Lyon. The Montevideo launch adds another milestone to this expanding footprint.
The opening ceremony brought together senior officials and partners, including Uruguay’s President Yamandú Orsi, Corporación América Airports CEO Martin Eurnekian, and TUMO’s Head of International Programs Chris Sahakian.
The project was realized through a partnership with Uruguay’s airport authorities and Corporación América Airports. The Montevideo centre is expected to serve up to 1,500 students per week, offering TUMO’s signature model of free, self-directed learning in creative technologies.
In a further boost to the initiative, Google announced a two-year collaboration with TUMO Uruguay to support students with advanced educational tools and expand opportunities in artificial intelligence.
Sahakian described the opening as part of a broader effort to extend TUMO’s reach, noting that expanding access for young people worldwide remains central to the program’s mission. As the organization approaches its 15th anniversary, it aims to establish 30 centres in 15 countries by the end of 2026.
