YEREVAN — The United States has donated approximately $1.4 million in vehicles and specialized equipment to Armenia’s Border Guard Troops, as Washington expands security cooperation with Yerevan.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, the assistance was provided through the State Department’s Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program.
The donation includes transport vehicles, ambulances, protective equipment, maintenance tools and modern information technology equipment intended for the Ayrum border crossing.
The handover ceremony was attended by U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Shona Wilson, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires David Allen and Armenian Border Guard Chief of Staff Colonel Roman Sahakyan.
The equipment is expected to improve the operational mobility of Armenia’s border forces, increase the capacity of border crossings and strengthen the country’s ability to manage the secure movement of people and goods.
The American Embassy emphasized that the assistance also supports Armenia’s growing responsibility for securing its borders and protecting regional connectivity routes, including those associated with the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).
The donation comes as Armenia continues efforts to modernize its border infrastructure and strengthen the capabilities of its National Security Service.
Washington has presented the assistance as part of its broader commitment to building a professional, modern and better-equipped Armenian border force.
The initiative represents another practical component of expanding Armenian-American security cooperation, particularly in border management and infrastructure protection.
