Horizon Media joins ethnic press colleagues at NEPMCC booth opening at CNE

(Horizon Media / TORONTO) — Horizon Media representatives Jacques Varbedian and Ishkhan Ghazarian joined members of the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) at the Canadian National Exhibition for the official opening of the Council’s annual booth, celebrating the important role of multicultural and community media across Canada.

During the gathering, the Horizon Media representatives also had the opportunity to engage with political representatives from various levels of government, as well as fellow members of Canada’s ethnic media community. Varbedian and Ghazarian met with NEPMCC President Thomas Saras and Executive Director Maria Saras, relaying Horizon Media’s appreciation for the Council’s steadfast efforts to support, promote and strengthen ethnic media across the country.

The NEPMCC is a national non-profit organization representing Canada’s diverse ethnic and multicultural media. The Council promotes excellence in ethnic journalism, strengthens cooperation among Canada’s diverse communities, and ensures that ethnic media have a meaningful voice in Canadian public life. It has also long advocated for greater recognition of the essential role community publications and broadcasters play in informing Canadians in numerous languages and connecting communities with public institutions.

The NEPMCC’s presence at the CNE provides its member publications with an opportunity to introduce their work to the broader public and highlight the linguistic and cultural diversity of Canada’s media landscape. The Council has maintained an ethnic press exhibition at the CNE for many years, showcasing publications representing communities from across the country.

Running from August 21 to September 7, the 2026 Canadian National Exhibition continues the annual Toronto tradition with 18 days of entertainment, food, cultural programming, exhibitions and family attractions. This year’s highlights include the new CNE Space EXperience and Big Dip High Dive Show, a new partnership with North by Northeast (NXNE) featuring live music throughout the fair, and the return of the Canadian International Air Show for its 77th year.

Horizon Media has been a longtime member of the NEPMCC and remains committed to working alongside Canada’s multicultural media organizations to ensure that the voices, perspectives and concerns of the Armenian-Canadian community continue to form part of the broader Canadian conversation.
