Population growth rate decreasing in Armenia

In Armenia, 21,876 children were born in January-August 2024, which is 7.3% lower than  the figure for the previous year. The birth rate per 1000 inhabitants  for the reporting period was 10.9 per mille, compared to 12 per mille  in 2023.

This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical  Committee.  During the reporting period, 17,213 people died in  Armenia, which is 4.9% higher than the figure for the previous year.  The death rate in the country was 8.5 per thousand, compared to 8.4  per thousand in 2023.  Thus, the absolute value of natural population  growth was 4,663 people, which is 35.1% lower than the level of the  previous year. The natural population growth rate for January-August  2024 was 2.4 per thousand, compared to 3.6 per thousand in the same  period of 2023.
