Azerbaijan starts mosque construction on site of Holy Ascension Church in Berdzor

The Azerbaijani authorities have begun building a mosque on the site of the Surb Hambardzum (Holy Ascension) Church in occupied Berdzor. They had previously razed the church to the ground. This was reported by the State Council for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Artsakh.

The State Council also recalled that back in September 2022, they  signaled the intention of the Azerbaijani regime to turn the Surb  Hambardzum Church into a mosque.

The Azerbaijani authorities, amid the silence of the international  community, are erasing any Armenian presence in the occupied  territories of Artsakh.
