Withdrawing Russian military base from Armenia not on the agenda, says Moscow

Armenia hasn’t made any signals that it wants Russia to withdraw its military base from the country, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said.
Speaking at a press briefing, Zakharova touched upon the matter and stressed that there’s no such issue on the agenda of the two countries.
“It is understood in Yerevan that the presence of the Russian military is an important security element in the region, in Armenia and entire South Caucasus. The function of the deployment of the military base is defined in the respective bilateral documents between Armenia and Russia, and such an issue has never been introduced by either side,” Zakharova said, adding that March of the current year marked the 30th anniversary of that agreement.
