The fact that Armenia does not have major problems in Syunik region is connected with Iran`s position – former president

The fact that Armenia does not have major problems in the Syunik region is due to  Iran’s position. This was stated by Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan at a press conference on February 17.

According to him, if it were not for Tehran’s stance, Azerbaijani  President Ilham Aliyev would not have any obstacles. “Can this stance  of Iran change? Of course, it can. For example, the process of  joining the European Union that has begun,” the politician said,  pointing to the crisis in the EU itself. That crisis, the second  president continued, consists of several components: semantic and  economic crises. The EU project itself is currently in a deep crisis.  As an example, Kocharyan called for reading the speech of Hungarian  Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the Munich Security Conference or the  speech of US Vice President Jay Vance at the same conference.

Nevertheless, the politician believes that the EU is not likely to  collapse, but will encounter serious problems and the necessity for  reforms. One of the first steps in this regard will be freezing the  membership of new states in this structure. Kocharyan also  highlighted another aspect of the EU. Thus, 20 years ago, only 2% of  Sweden’s population were non- Swedes, whereas today this figure is  20%. “This is already a figure that may be difficult to reconcile  with your values,” Robert Kocharyan noted.
