Tahar Rahim earns César nomination for ‘Monsieur Aznavour’

Tahar Rahim has been nominated for a César Award for Best Actor for his performance as Charles Aznaovur in “Monsieur Aznavour”, the Armenian Film Society reports.

The César Award is the French equivalent to the Academy Awards. “Monsieur Aznavour” is also nominated for Best Costumes, Best Production Design, and Best Special Effects. Tahar Rahim is a two-time César Award winner for Best Actor and Most Promising Actor for his performance in “A Prophet”.

“Monsieur Aznavour” is directed by Mehdi Idir and Grand Corps Malade and charts the rise of Charles Aznavour. The film also stars several Armenians, including Nariné Grigoryan, Hovnatan Avédikian, and Tigran Mekhitarian.

“Monsieur Aznavour” was released in France in October 2024. US release dates have not yet been announced.

The César Awards are scheduled to take place at the Olympia in Paris on February 28, 2025.
