(Horizon Weekly / YEREVAN) — A delegation of Swiss lawmakers and human rights advocates has visited the Permanent Representation of Artsakh in Yerevan, holding talks with Artsakh’s political leadership and representatives of displaced communities.
The delegation included members of the Swiss National Council, Erich von Tobel and Stefan Müller-Altermatt, as well as John Eibner, head of Christian Solidarity International. They were accompanied by CSI representatives Joel Veldkamp and Peter Fuchs.
They met with Acting President and National Assembly Speaker Ashot Danielyan, Deputy Speaker Gagik Bagunts, parliamentary faction leaders, the Artsakh Human Rights Defender, and members of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of the People of Artsakh, according to the Artsakh Information Headquarters.
During the meeting, Danielyan awarded von Tobel the Republic of Artsakh’s “Gratitude” Medal, while Müller-Altermatt and Eibner received certificates of appreciation. He also presented current political priorities aimed at restoring the rights of Artsakh’s population and addressed the social and psychological challenges faced by displaced Armenians.
The Swiss lawmakers briefed participants on the implementation of a 2025 resolution adopted by both chambers of the Swiss Parliament, titled “Peace Forum for Nagorno-Karabakh: Ensuring the Possibility of Return for Armenians,” and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing this initiative.
The sides discussed expanding cooperation and launching future joint projects. Von Tobel emphasized that, from the Swiss government’s perspective, the Nagorno-Karabakh issue remains unresolved.
