A state ceremony marking the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held at the Esplanade of Armenia along the Seine River in central Paris on April 24. The event was attended by French Prime Minister François Bayrou.
The ceremony began with a wreath-laying at the statue of Komitas in memory of the genocide victims. Among those present were former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Armenian Ambassador to France Arman Khachatryan, and Hervé Marseille, representing Senate President Gérard Larcher. Co-chairs of the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) and other French officials also took part in the event.
Bayrou, Hidalgo and CCAF co-chairs addressed the Armenian-French community during the ceremony. The event gathered dozens of dignitaries, including members of the French government, parliamentarians, regional and local leaders and diplomats.
Following the official commemoration, a traditional march took place with the participation of many members of the Armenian community in France.
