Russia is interested in Armenia’s active participation in the CSTO – Lavrov

The Russian side is interested in Armenia’s active participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“We are interested in Armenia’s active participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization,” Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

The Russian Foreign Minister said that the issue of cooperation in the field of security was touched upon during the conversation.

“We are allies. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Russian military base in Armenia, which is an important component of ensuring the country’s security interests,” he added, emphasizing that Russia is in favor of close contacts between the military and law enforcement agencies, as well as the security services of the two countries.

“All this should be based on the rich experience that has been accumulated over the past years,” the Russian Foreign Minister noted.
