Minister of Canadian Heritage Melanie Joly, Mayor Denis Coderre and Federal MPs attend Sourp Hagop annual Festival
Over the weekend of August 11 to the 13th, the Sourp Hagop kermesse took place and this year marked the 30th anniversary of this annual event.
There were a number of political guests that attended over the 3-day period.
On Saturday, Jaghmeet Singh, the candidate for NDP leadership attended the event where he walked around, greeted the attendees and spread his message for his bid for the leadership role.
Sunday was a very busy day as well. ANC welcomed five Federal MPs. The Heritage minister, the honorable Melanie Joly, Ms. Emmanuella Lambropoulos from the city of St. Laurent. Mr. Frank Baylis representing the Roxboro-Pierrefonds area, Mrs. Eva Nassif from Vimy, Laval as well as Mr. Faycal El-Khoury from Laval-les-iles.
Mayor Denis Coderre also attended the event on Sunday with a number of his elected city councilors from the neighboring boroughs.
The mayor took to the stage to endorse Harout Chitilian as the mayor of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
Ms. Joly also addressed the crowd mentioning how proud she is of the Armenian community in our efforts towards welcoming Armenian Syrian refugees.
And finally Mr. Faycal El-Khoury took to the stage and read a message from the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
The evening ended with all guests enjoying a glass of imported Armenian wine.
