Isabel Bayrakdarian’s latest album nominated for a Juno award
Canadian-Armenian soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian’s ‘Mother of Light: Armenian Hymns & Chants in Praise of Mary’ has been nominated for a Juno Award in the Classical Album of the Year category. Bayrakdarian’s latest album consists of medieval Armenian spiritual hymns and chants.
Bayrakdarian is the winner of four consecutive Juno Awards for Best Classical Album.
Most recently, she was awarded the “Movses Khorenatsi” medal – the Republic of Armenia’s highest cultural award – from the President of Armenia in celebration of Armenia’s Independence, on September 21 2017.
The 2018 JUNO Awards will broadcast LIVE canadawide from Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Sunday, March 25 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET on CBC, CBC Radio and globally on cbcmusic.ca/junos.
The Juno Awards are presented annually to Canadian musical artists and bands to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of music.
