HIS HOLINESS CATHOLICOS ARAM I AT SOURP HAGOP ARMENIAN CATHEDRAL

His Holiness Catholicos Aram I’s official and pastoral visit to the Armenian Prelacy of Canada began in Montreal on Thursday evening, October 16, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.
The Pontifical procession, composed of clergy members, members of the choirs of Sourp Hagop Cathedral and Sourp Kevork Church, representatives of community institutions, and national figures, was led by the scouts of Montreal and Laval Chapters and the marching band of the H.M.E.M. “GAMK” chapter.

At the entrance of the church, as the hymn “Hrashapar” was sung, His Holiness entered Sourp Hagop Cathedral, where a Canonical Prayer service was celebrated.
Present at the ceremony were His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of Canada, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy of the United States; the representative of the Central Executive Council for Canada; members of the Executive Council of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada; the boards of trustees of the churches; representatives of community organizations; and a large congregation of faithful.

His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, warmly welcomed His Holiness, expressing heartfelt gratitude for his blessed visit and sincerely congratulating him on the 30th anniversary of his enthronement.

At the beginning of his paternal address, His Holiness conveyed his blessings to the Prelate, the clergy of the Prelacy, the Religious and Executive Councils, all affiliated institutions, and the Armenian community of Canada.

Following the ecclesiastical ceremony, the faithful gathered at the “Avedis Aharonian” Hall of the Montreal Armenian Community Centre, where they had the privilege of receiving the Patriarchal blessing of His Holiness with reverence and devotion.
