Donald Trump Jr. Cancels Armenia Visit Amid Church-State Tensions

Horizon Weekly – Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of U.S. President Donald Trump, has cancelled his planned visit to Armenia, which had been scheduled for November 12, Hraparak reported.

Earlier reports indicated that the trip was expected to include business meetings and discussions with Armenian officials. However, the cancellation reportedly followed growing discomfort within U.S. conservative circles over the Armenian government’s confrontations with the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The issue drew attention after American journalist Tucker Carlson aired an interview with Narek Karapetyan — the nephew of jailed businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan — highlighting tensions between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s administration and the Church.

According to Hraparak, Trump Jr. decided to withdraw from the trip after verifying reports about the government’s strained relations with Church leadership. His visit had reportedly been set to include attendance at a “prayer breakfast” initiated by Pashinyan and his wife, Anna Hakobyan, where a meeting between the Prime Minister and Trump Jr. was planned.

Observers note the irony that Armenia’s leadership is organizing a “prayer breakfast” while senior clergymen of the Armenian Apostolic Church remain behind bars — a juxtaposition that, critics say, reflects a troubling blend of symbolism and hypocrisy within the government’s approach to faith and power.
