Birth rate in Armenia down 8.8% in the first quarter

The birth rate in Armenia dropped by 8.8% in January-March 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, according to the numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee.
The decline in the birth rate has been recorded in Armenia since January of last year. During the reporting period, 7,302 babies were born, while in the first 3 months of 2024 there were 8,004 newborns. At the same time, 81 cases of stillbirth were registered during the specified period, which is 30.2% less than in the same period of 2024.
In general, in the first quarter of 2025, 7,121 people died in the country, which is 2.3% more than the figure for the same period in 2024. It is also noted that the natural population growth was 181 people, this figure is 82.6% less than in the same period last year.
