The Armenian Defense Ministry denies Azerbaijan’s allegations that Armenian forces opened fire on Azerbaijani positions in the eastern and southeastern border sectors between 10:30 p.m. on March 30 and 4:35 a.m. on March 31.

“These claims are inconsistent with reality,” the ministry said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Defense Ministry reported that at around 12:50 a.m. on March 31, Azerbaijani troops opened fire toward the village of Khnatsakh in Syunik Province, damaging a house. No injuries were reported.

“It should be recalled the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office has proposed the establishment of a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations and related reports. However, Azerbaijan has yet to respond to this initiative.

“The Armenian Defense Ministry reaffirms that, in accordance with the position of the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office, it stands ready to investigate the facts supporting the statement issued by the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, should they be provided to the Republic of Armenia. Simultaneously, we urge the Azerbaijani side to conduct an investigation into the shelling of a residential building in the Khnatsakh and to provide public clarifications regarding the incident,” reads the statement.
