In a statement released on Thursday, Artsakh National Assembly Speaker Ashot Danielyan condemned the charges against businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan as politically motivated. The full statement is provided below.
“In recent days, we have all witnessed with deep concern the unlawful actions targeting the Armenian Apostolic Church and national philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan. These developments are deeply troubling for every Armenian who is guided by national ideals and feels a sense of responsibility toward their homeland and people.
Samvel Karapetyan has consistently stood by Artsakh during the most difficult days of war and throughout the demanding process of state-building, sharing the hardships of the people and offering support to them. Every resident of Artsakh has personally experienced his care and taken pride in his patriotic dedication.
The persecution of Samvel Karapetyan is part of a coordinated campaign aimed at undermining our national values, particularly the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and the glorious victories achieved through the national liberation struggle.
I strongly condemn the actions against Samvel Karapetyan. I extend my full support to the Karapetyan family, wishing them strength and fortitude, and I deeply believe that truth and justice will ultimately prevail.”
