Armenian weightlifter Garnik Cholakyan crowned European champion

Armenian weightlifter Garnik Cholakyan has been crowned European champion at the European Junior & U23 Championships in Durres, Albania, competing in the 60kg weight category.

Cholakyan lifted 115kg and 120kg in the snatch, securing the gold medal in the event. In the clean and jerk, he successfully lifted 140kg, 145kg and 147kg, finishing first again. His total of 267kg earned him the European gold medal on Wednesday.

The Armenian team is coached by Pashik Alaverdyan and Hakob Pilosyan, with Aleksan Karapetyan serving as Cholakyan’s personal coach.

In the same weight class, Seyran Khudanyan lifted 115kg in the snatch to take silver, but managed only 135kg in the clean and jerk, finishing fifth with a total of 250kg.. His personal coach is Ruslan Khudanyan.
