Armenian, Greek Army chiefs discuss defense cooperation

The delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Defense, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, is on an official visit to the Hellenic Republic at the invitation of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis.

On February 27, an official welcoming ceremony was held in honor of Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, featuring a guard of honor and a military orchestra. The national anthems of the two countries were played.

The private discussion between the Chiefs of the General Staffs was followed by a a meeting in an extended format. The discussions focused on Armenia-Greece cooperation in the defense sector, with both sides highly appreciating the progress achieved thus far. They reviewed past collaborative efforts and outlined further steps to enhance bilateral defense relations.

Additionally, the parties discussed cooperation within the trilateral Armenia-Greece-Cyprus format in the defence domain.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on regional security issues.
