Armenian-Canadian hockey analyst Mikael Nahabedian part of Italy Women’s Olympic staff

(Horizon Weekly) – Armenian-Canadian hockey analytics specialist Mikael Nahabedian is part of the coaching and technical staff of the Italy Women’s National Ice Hockey Team at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Born in Montreal, Nahabedian has built his career in women’s hockey operations and performance analysis. He currently serves as Director of Hockey Analytics for the Montréal Victoire of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, overseeing advanced data strategy and game analysis. Earlier in his career, he worked as a consultant with the Colorado Avalanche, gaining experience at the NHL level.

Nahabedian previously developed his coaching and analytics background with the McGill Martlets women’s hockey program, where he served as a Video and Analytics Specialist and recruiter, blending advanced statistical analysis with scouting and detailed video review.

At the Games in Milano-Cortina, Nahabedian is serving as video coach for Italy’s women’s national team, contributing to opponent breakdowns, tactical preparation, and in-game analysis. His presence on an Olympic bench at just 26 years old marks a significant professional milestone and highlights the international reach of Armenian-Canadian talent emerging from Montreal’s hockey community.
