(Horizon Weekly) – The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) of Armenia has announced its decision to participate in the 2026 National Assembly elections, prioritizing a coalition-based format, following deliberations at its 29th Extraordinary Supreme Assembly held in Yerevan.
In a statement released after the Assembly, the ARF said the decision was reached after considering proposals from regional and city assemblies, as well as the views expressed by participants during the session. The party framed its decision within what it described as a period of profound geopolitical shifts and serious security challenges facing both the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people as a whole.
The statement sharply criticized the policies of the current ruling authorities, characterizing them as anti-national and anti-state, and warning that they have placed Armenia’s statehood and territorial integrity at risk. According to the ARF, a change of power is necessary to reverse the current trajectory, neutralize mounting threats, and build what it described as a “national state of a new quality.”
Within this context, the ARF stressed that the 2026 parliamentary elections must serve as a mechanism to prevent the continuation of the current administration. To that end, the Supreme Assembly authorized the ARF Supreme Body of Armenia to engage in active pre-election negotiations on the formation of a potential alliance, while ensuring the party maintains a significant role and that its core positions on key national issues are reflected.
The ARF did not specify potential coalition partners but indicated that discussions would focus on shared approaches to Armenia’s most critical political, security, and national challenges.
